ENGRAVED WOOD BLOCK FOR THE CANTERBURY TALES ('W')

signed with initials and numbered 300 on the reverse, unsigned in the block
engraved wood block with gesso
21 by 13 by 4.5cm.; 8¼ by 5¼ by 1¾in.
Executed circa 1929.

Condition Report:
The sculpture appears to be sound. There are a small number of historic cracks, some of which run all the way through the work and have been restored. One or two areas of the gesso ground are lifting and there are some instances of loss, including to one of the figure's legs. There are some tiny nicks and chips to the extreme edges of the work. There is some light surface dirt and some handling marks throughout.

The work is held on a wooden base.
