Date Published: c.1943

Fifth Avenue "64" pen and pencil set, burgundy resin barrels, lever-filler, 14K solid gold caps inscribed "6?4". Hooded nib, size fine. Eversharp was a sponsor of the popular radio show "Take It or Leave It", which featured the famous phrase "The $64 question". The "64" pen was an immensely successful tie-in product with many millions sold. This version, with hallmarked 14K solid gold caps, is considerably less common. Pen wiz Gary Lehrer supports the story that the solid gold versions were not sold but awarded as prizes on the radio show. Excellent condition, light handling wear, in original box.
