Provenance: Ex German private collection, 1970's Prior with Pierre Bergé Sale, Paris, 01 June 2012, lot 49. Ex Bonhams, London, Lot 18, Sale: Antiquities, 28/11/2017. NOTE: Also, this Shabti has been authenticated genuine by a curator and scholar of ancient Egyptian Studies in the UK. This lot comes from the private collection of Mr. J. Bahamonde who over a period of 20 years acquired his collection from various prestigious dealers. His degree in archaeology from one of the best British universities and passion for ancient art is reflected in this intriguing statue. The limestone figure expertly carved wearing a large tripartite wig and serene face, with arms crossed at and clenched hands. I have added some zoomed close ups photos of the statue details. This is a truly beautiful figure. Height: 24 cm. Condition: Good overall considering it is ancient, small area of sticker residue in front of shabti, some mineral incrustation mainly on the right side of wig; the underside with remains of glue for attachment to a base, there appears to be some light cream slip applied to the back on the legs, maybe to make the overall colouring consistent. NO structural breaks. NOTE: This antiquity cannot be sent to the USA due to overcomplicated customs requirements. USA residents please do not bid. The Seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally , provenance statement seen by Catawiki. Important information. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days.
