Pendant medallion in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold surmounted by an openwork royal crown allowing a glimpse of a transparent red enamel shape on chased gold. The openable central part contains a plate on which is written the following text: "Hair of Louise Marie Queen of the Belgians born in Palermo on April 3, 1812 died in Ostend on 11 8bre (October) 1850". On the reverse, a lock of the Queen's hair. The medallion ends in a point with three small pearls. The whole is finely chiselled and decorated with coloured stone chips. The text and hair are protected by curved glass plates.
