EXCEPTIONAL WHALE IVORY DOUBLE-WHEEL PIE CRIMPER WITH SNAKE-FORM HANDLE Mid-19th Century
Finely executed snake with shaped head, carved and inked eyes and mouth, and stippled scales that terminate on shaft in a scalloped design. Contrasting band, probably baleen, conjoins the shaft and the sinuous mount that supports the two wheels and a two-tine fork. The fluting on the two wheels differs; one is more sharply serrated. Balanced construction that fits nicely in the hand. Rich patina. Length 7.25".
