Andrea Robbins (Born 1963) / Max Becher (Born 1964)

German Indians: Chief's Wife

1998

The chromogenic print by Andrea Robbins and Max Becher is numbered 1 from an edition of only 5 prints. The subject is a German woman participating in a festival of 'Indian Hobbyism.' Since the 18th century, Germans have been fascinated with Native American culture, and to this day continue to study and reenact Native American traditions. An exhibition label from the Nassau County Museum of Art (New York) is affixed to this photograph frame verso.

Frame measures 35 x 30.5 inches.

Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.
In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org). The content of this auction bears testament to their keen eye and varied interests. No property has been added; each lot here originates with the Sosland family and sells without reserve.

We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.

Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
Condition Report: Apparently the condition is very good, very clean, intact, no visible stain, damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
