EXTRAORDINARY BOXED HEDDON KILLER TRADE MINNOW
These Killers were made by Heddon and sold by other retailers such as VL&A around 1908. They are among the earliest “Trade” baits, and correspondingly this example has the right “Trade” characteristics like South Bend-style blunt-tip props, two (instead of three) sets of HPGM and brass screw eyes & bearings. The beautiful round-body minnow has clear glass eyes, Excellent paint, and is finished in Green Back, White Belly. The rare maroon box is in about Very Good Plus condition with edge & corner wear and a blemish on top. The paper label is almost completely intact, and the end panel is clearly stamped “No. 5002”, so check your VL&A catalog for a match. It should be noted that there are three different border styles to be found on these boxes, and this diamond pattern is believed to be the hardest to find. 3 - 1/4" Lure Dimensions: Box: 5 - 1/4" x 2" x 1 - 1/4".
