Early 19th C Fauteuil Armchair by Jean-Joseph Chapuis

A circa 1805 original fauteuil armchair by Jean-Joseph Chapuis (French, 1765-1864) having curved toprail and arms with ball finials on each side above a caned woven seat over curved bentwood legs that terminate in gilt brass ball sabot feet. The laminate bentwood legs are secured by a series of flathead screws that strengthen the legs. Provenance from the Estate of Jack and Evelyn Rudloff of NYC, Jack was a prominent designer and purchased the chair in NYC in the early 19th century passed down to the great niece Evelyn Asbilll of Atlanta, GA in 1979 and in her possession to the present.
Dimensions: 34.5 x 23 x 18 in
Condition Report: Good condition comensurate with age, damaged cane seat. Minor scratches and scuffs to frame.
