Early 20th C. Persian Glazed Pottery Bowl, ex-Museum

Near East, Persia (current day Iran and Turkey), ca. early 20th century CE. A fabulous pottery bowl comprised of a flared rim, shallow basin, and round bottom, all sitting upon a ring-form, pedestal foot. The interior of the elegant dish is adorned with a black-painted wheel motif with geometric and phytomorphic designs on a pale-yellow ground. An annular drill hole tied with a rattan rope on the foot allows the graceful vessel to be suspended when stored. Please note that display stand is for photography purposes only. Size: 13.25" W x 3.8" H (33.7 cm x 9.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
