Early 20th C. Saudi Arabian Steel & Leather Jambiya

Middle East, Saudi Arabia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A forged-carbon-steel, left-handed dagger known as a jambiya with a double-edged blade bearing a distinct curve. The T-shaped handle is is formed from 92% silver and is adorned with raised nodules and large bulbs across the surfaces that provide ample gripping surfaces for deftly maneuvering the weapon. The form-fitting sheath has a 92% silver top half engraved with rows of intricate patterns, a brass jacket along the lower half, and a leather carrying strap with a petite sheath for a by-knife. The generic term for this type of dagger is khanjar, though its designation as a jambiya is indicative of a khanjar made in either Yemen or Saudi Arabia. Condition Report: Original by-knife missing as shown. Minor chipping to wooden blade housing within sheath, with slight indentations and abrasions to sheath jacket and handle, and desiccation to leather strap commensurate with age and use, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout.
