Central Asia, Tibet, ca. early 20th century CE. A miniature cast-brass depiction of Maitreya, a bodhisattva who is said to be the spiritual successor to the Shakyamuni Buddha. The figure sits upon an integral throne with his hands in a modified Abhaya mudra pose, and his head presents with serene facial details and a flaming ushnisha on top. Size: 0.625" W x 1.15" H (1.6 cm x 2.9 cm).
