Early 20th century Portuguese silver inkstand of oval form, with ropework borders, on four leaf mounted scroll feet and fitted with a pair of cut glass silver mounted inkwells, central wafer container and pen rest, with separate silver dip pen (Portuguese hallmarks). The inkstand is engraved "Presented to Capt Hans Pedersen by his fellow passengers of the R.M.S. Augustine in appreciation of his gallantry in helping the Officers and Crew to save lives in the Bay of Biscay on 3 Oct 1904". Approximately 18ozs weighable silver. 24cm across. (2).
