Folio, modern cloth, all edges gilt; often worn. With 1,393 plates (including portrait and frontispiece). Letterpress lightly to moderately toned throughout, scattered foxing and dust smudging to letterpress margins, letterpress leaves in volume 2, part 1 dampstained at bottom fore edge corners, letterpress leaves in volume 3, parts 1 and 2 dampstained in margins, title page of volume 3, part 2 dampstained, letterpress of supplement volume 2 chipped and creased in blank margins and corners. Title pages printed in red and black. Portrait loose. Plates generally free of dampstaining, foxing and dust smudging. Ex-library: perforated stamps on title pages, perforated stamps on all plate margins, ink stamp on all plate margins - mostly top blank fore edge corners, other markings on end papers.
