Early Medieval, Merovingian Bronze Buckle of a Belt with 5 spherical adornments and engraved details (fine!).
Trapezoidal belt plate with seven bosses.
Belt buckle plate. Tin-plated bronze.
Merovingian period: late 6th century-early 7th century.
Complete buckle plate, consisting of a plate, a buckle and a pin. The plate is trapezoidal in shape, indented at its two ends, and is decorated with five hemispherical bosses. The decoration of the plaque is composed of interlacing and twists.
On the reverse, the plate has three tenons, arranged in a triangle, which held it to the leather. The barb has a scutiform base, thus taking up the indented shape of the plate and also the same type of decoration: four arches on a dotted field. The barb blade is flat below and domed above. On the reverse the tenon is missing.
