Title: Eastlake Brooklyn silver plate pickle castor

An ornate, shiny, solver-plate holder with a lovely and elaborate Victorian Eastlake design and a pressed patterned glass jar. A sunflower finial tops the frame. The two simple sides of the frame are secured to the base by florid curls. The base has a flange and shelf to hold the glass jar.The outer edge of the base has a sunflower band that repeats the motif of the final. Below the band, the base flares out to the foot. The jar is of clear pressed glass with a two bands of overlapping medallions along the top and bottom and a scalloped edge along the top.The bottom of the jar has a cut flat base and fits snugly in the frame. A ray pattern is pressed into the base of the jar. The jar has nice heft to it. The snugly-fitting silver plate lid has a fan shaped finial, and is chased with an extremely pretty, elaborate floral pattern. A pair of elaborate tongs fits in the hook at the side of the frame. There is a manufacturerÂ’s mark that reads “BROOKLYN SILVER PLATE CO.TRIPLE PLATE with the number 64” stamped on the base of the frame. MEASUREMENTS 10 ½Â” (26.7 cm) tall x 4 1/8” (10.5 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 9.6 oz (725 g) CONDITION It is in very nice condition. There is a small dent in the rim that secures the jar. There are a few spots with some silver loss, but the piece still has much of its silver and shines nicely. The jar is old, showing wear on the cut flat base.The jar has no cracks, breaks, or chips. A fanciful work of the American silver manufacturers art.
