Ebena - Box - candy box - Bakelite

Offered is a beautiful art deco style candy box from the well-known company Ebena Wijnechem Belgium. In addition to the special objects bearing their name, this factory also made more "ordinary" Bakelite objects on behalf of third parties.

The lidded box offered by me is in perfect condition without damage.

This lidded box has no markings or other stamps.

The dimensions are approximately: 80 mm high and 127 mm in diameter.

Ebena was a factory that produced plastic ornamental objects in Wijnegem (Belgium) between 1921 and 1931 using a semi-artisan process. The range mainly consisted of all kinds of 'boxes' that were used for different purposes. The early objects have mixed colors that give a variegated appearance. A different raw material was used for later pieces and more uni colors are used. The pure art deco style is easily recognizable in most objects.

Unfortunately, only few objects have been preserved (in good condition) . This makes Ebena a sought-after collector's item for plastic enthusiasts and art deco collectors.
