In our first portrait, Blaise Lorenchet holds in his hand a book bearing a verse from the Book of Job (chap. IV).
Originally from Beaune, the LORENCHET family is mentioned as early as 1430, from Jean Lorenchet, born before 1530, came two branches. From the younger branch of the Lorenchet family, Lords of TAILLY-BOUILLAUD, MARIGNY-LE-CAHOUET comes
Philibert, advisor and secretary to the King, House and Crown of France in the Chancellery of the Parliament of Dijon.
It is in his person that the Lorenchet family will be ennobled, providing, among other things, four magistrates to the Paris Parliament and two canons of Notre-Dame.
Blaise Lorenchet (between 1595 and 1598-1665) was a tannery merchant, prud'homme for the visit of leather in the city of Beaune in 1633. In 1648, he was cited as "bourgeois merchant of the City of Beaune", then in 1651, King's Counsellor, controller at the salt granary of Beaune and the Chagny chamber and finally, in 1658, alternative president counsellor.
On October 13, 1651, in front of notary Bouchin, he founded the Saint-Blaise chapel in Notre Dame church. Having become Rector of the Hôtel- Dieu in 1656, it was in this capacity that he received on November 18, 1658, with Father Carmagnolle, spiritual director, and Mistress
Marie Bourgeon, Louis XIV, who was passing through Beaune with his mother Anne of Austria and Cardinal Mazarin.
Blaise Lorenchet was buried in the Chapel of the convent of the R.P.
Minimes, which he had established in 1624.
Jeanne POPIN (?-1672), daughter of Jean Popin, merchant, and Etiennette
Ancenot, Lady of Tailly partly in 1619. She married Blaise
Lorenchet on 15 April 1619 and gave him eleven children.
