Ecole Flamande vers 1560, suiveur de Michel Coxie - La rencontre d'Abraham et de Melchisedech
\Artist: Ecole Flamande vers 1560, suiveur de Michel Coxie
Technique: Oil on panel\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 96_0_125_cm
Large painting, Flemish School circa 1560, presented as follower of Michel Coxie but closer to the Circle of the Master of the Prodigal Son who painted the same scene with slight differences. The subject of the meeting of Abraham and Melchizedek comes from the Old Testament. Abraham leaves, on God's orders, his homeland with his wife Sarah and his nephew Loth to go to Palestine. This painting shows us the moment when Melchizedek bows to Abraham and presents his gifts, bread and wine. Abraham, kneeling, offers him part of his loot. Oil on wooden panel (oak) Old restorations. Note, the superb work of parquetry. Later frame in the spirit of the Dutch 17th century. Possible delivery to Paris, Ferté Bernard region, and Perche. #Exclusive. Artweek
