Ecole Italienne - Paysage romantique

Beautiful quality of painting presumably dated from the early 18th century. Landscape with characters on a path, ruins and mountain in the distance. Allegorical subject in vogue at the time, the painting exudes a classic style. Probably done by an Italian artist but it can also be a Flemish author judging the stroke of palette. The paintings went through a shop located in Annonay, a city near Lyon, France, see label. The state of the painting is very good, slight gaps in the lower right corner. The frame is old and is somewhat fragile. Despite some marks, it remains pleasant and fits perfectly.
