Romantic movement, late 18th (1793) “Le repos du chasseur” - Dry Pastel Description: The scene is transcended by pastel hues, the range of colors used by the artist is extended, ranging from sky blue to pale pink or mauve, with soft greens and creamy yellows. The work is highlighted in a superb wood and fluted gold stucco frame, under glass. It represents a gentleman near a waterfall in a bucolic landscape. Provenance: private collection, Paris. Expert: Master Kapandji Drouot. Signature: Unsigned. Note: This creation is one of a pair of matching paintings of the same artist.
