Rara edizione veneziana. Sono qui raccolte le due opere economiche più importanti dello studioso feltrino. Nella prima opera, che inaugura l’analisi quantitativa dei fenomeni storico-economici, sostiene che i Romani, ricchi e potenti, avevano sempre trascurato per orgoglio il commercio, base fondamentale dello sviluppo degli Stati, al punto che questa poteva essere considerata la causa principale della loro decadenza. Nella seconda opera afferma, contro le teorie mercantilistiche di J. B. Colbert, che solo la piena e assoluta autonomia di iniziativa può garantire la libertà economica: pertanto, conclude, uno Stato moderno avrebbe dovuto collocare sullo stesso piano sia le attività manifatturiere sia quelle agricole, intervenendo a sostegno di alcuni settori produttivi solo in casi particolari e con molta discrezione, ed elevando invece la terra a pari dignità con le altre imprese produttive.

Rare Venetian edition. The two most important economic works of the Feltre scholar are collected here. In the first work, which inaugurates the quantitative analysis of historical-economic phenomena, he argues that the Romans, rich and powerful, had always neglected trade, the fundamental basis of the development of states, out of pride, to the point that this could be considered the main cause of their decay. In the second work he states, against JB Colbert's mercantilist theories, that only full and absolute autonomy of initiative can guarantee economic freedom: therefore, he concludes, a modern state should have placed both manufacturing and agricultural activities on the same level, intervening in support of some productive sectors only in particular cases and with great discretion, and instead elevating the land to equal dignity with other productive enterprises.
