Ecuadoran Pottery Spindle Whorl Drop Pendant Necklace

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A lovely oxidized silver necklace displaying a trio of pottery spindle whorls on a central drop pendant. Each spindle whorl is decorated with incised iguana motifs, and applied white pigment in the lower areas bring out the low relief zoomorphic details. A fine and wearable accessory! Size (necklace): 19.375" L (49.2 cm); size (largest bead): 0.5" W (1.3 cm).

Provenance: private Boulder, Colorado, USA collection

Condition Report: Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Pottery spindle whorls are ancient while oxidized silver components are modern. Minor nicks to spindle whorls and light softening to finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout.
