Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE and 500 CE. Three terracotta spindle whorls, each decorated with incised artwork depicting abstract renderings of birds, put on a modern woven sterling silver u-shaped wire joined to oxidized sterling silver chains to form an elegant necklace. The artwork on these spindle whorls elevates the utilitarian objects to art. Beautiful and wearable! Size: chains measure 15.5" L (39.4 cm); woven silver wire with spindle whorls measure 4" L (10.2 cm)
