First edition of these travel diaries published after the death of Jules de Goncourt in 1870. These two brothers, passionate about Italy and lovers of Venice where they made long stays, produced these travel diaries illustrated by Jules de 48 black and white sketches and 5 watercolors (including 3 double pages) .

This work is composed of an ordinary print in 12vo format, published with a cover illustrated in colors by Charpentier-Fasquelle.
For this edition, Librairie Conquet has reserved a luxury edition limited to 350 numbered copies reimposed in octavo format, the only ones to include the 5 watercolors reproduced in color.

This copy of the luxury print is one of the 75 on Imperial Japan (second paper after the 75 on China and before the 200 on vellum) and bears number 135.

Paperback volume, filled cover.
Very beautiful untrimmed copy, in excellent fresh condition.
