Edmund Daniel Kinzinger (German/American, 1888-1963) Abstract Female Form, 1934 Oil on canvas laid on board 7-1/2 x 5-7/8 inches (19.1 x 14.9 cm) (sight) Signed and dated lower right: EDK 34 German born artist, Edmund Kinzinger was trained in Munich and Paris before serving in World War I. While teaching in Munich after the war, Kinzinger met and married Alice Fish, an American. Through her influence, the artist taught at the Minneapolis Art Institute in 1928. After a brief jaunt in Taxco in 1930, Kinzinger returned to Germany but quickly immigrated to the United States fleeing the Nazis. The artist taught at Baylor University in Waco for 13 years. Struggling with depression, Kinzinger stopped painting altogether in 1947 until his death in 1960. Edmund Kinzinger's modernist geometric style is similar to famed Texas artist Bror Utter.

Condition Report: Canvas is laid on illustration board; board is taped to window mat via non-archival tape; spots of possible toning to the reverse of the illustration board; slight bubbling to the canvas along the left edge, most noticeable upon close inspection.
