Édouard-Marcel Sandoz
1881 - 1971
Macrurus Dressé
Designed circa 1920, our example made in 1921
Patinated bronze
Signed Ed.M. Sandoz and with the foundry mark E ROBECCHI cire perdue on a fin
28 x 28 x 22,5 cm ; 11 x 11 x 8 ⅞ in.
Condition Report:
Good overall condition.
The patinated bronze surface presents with scattered minor surface irregularities, such as a few pinholes, which are inherent to the making.
The patinated bronze presents with areas of wear revealing the original colour of the bronze, mostly visible on the fish's body and the prominent parts, as well as some oxidation in the recessed areas and a few minute vert-de-gris stains in the mouth and on the fins, consistent with the normal aging process of the material.
The surface also presents with light scattered scuffs and some abrasions in places, as well as tiny dents mainly along the edges, all commensurate with age.
Provenance:
Vente Mes Couturier-Nicolay et Daussy-Ricqlès, Paris, 20 November 1991, lot 86
