Eduards Metuzals was born on March 10, 1889 in Riga.

Studied at the Riga Evening Drawing School of the Painters Encouragement Society (1908-1910), after its graduation became the expert on internal decoration. Simultaneously since 1907 studied on evening courses of painting at B.Borherts. In 1910 Eduards Metuzals emigrated to the Western Europe, worked as the loader in port of Bruxelles, in Koln – as a painter, where began to paint custom-made portraits, thus earning purse of existence all the next years. Since 1912 lived mainly in Sweden, was a familiar with Rainis and Aspazia, painted they much. In 1921 Eduards Metuzals returned to Latvia. Has received the foreign grant of Cultural Foundation, has gone to Italy.

In exhibitions participated since 1912. Since 1914 Eduards Metuzals on a regular basis exhibited the works at exhibitions of "Kunsthaus" in Zurich. Personal exhibitions are organized in Riga (1921, 1922, 1925, 1970, 1976), Tallinn (1923), Finland (1923), Koknese (1969).

Eduards Metuzals died on January 13, 1978 in Riga.
