EDOUARD WOUTERMAERTENS ( 1819 - 1897) A beautiful signed & dated 1852 oil on canvas in original frame depicting sheep in a landscape. the work is signed and dated lower right and expertly done. The work is unlined and unrestored and has a puncture upper right in the sky. A lovely example which is in its fine original gilt frame. Subject: ”Sheep in a Landscape” Signature: Signed lower right & dated 1852 Provenance: Private french collection Medium: Oil on original canvas Édouard Woutermaertens was the brother of Constant Woutermaertens and a pupil of L. Robbe. He taught other animal painters, much of whose work is in the museum of Courtrai.
