Provenance: From a private collection, acquired directly from the artist. This painting was exhibited in the Anonima Group exhibition "Black/White And Gray Paintings" at Galeria Foksal PSP, in Warsaw, Poland, 1966, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, England, 1966. Edwin Mieczkowski was a pioneer in Op Art during the 1960s and formed the Anonima Group with Francis Hewitt and Ernst Benkert. The goal of the group was to examine geometric abstraction through Gestalt theories of perception. Mieczkowski was born in Pittsburgh, PA and received his BFA in 1957 from the Cleveland Institute of Art, an MFA in 1959 from Carnegie Tech and taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1959 to 1998. He won the 1966 Cleveland Arts Prize for Visual Arts. His work has been included in major exhibitions such as "The Responsive Eye" at the Museum of Morden Art in 1965, "Vibrations Eleven" at the Martha Jackson Gallery in New York City in 1965, and "New Tendency 3" and "New Tendency 4" in Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1965 and 1966.

Condition: Good, minor surface dirt and grime, minor scuffing to frame.
