Egyptian 22K+ Gold Swivel Ring Amethyst Scarab w/ Ankh
Egyptian, Middle Kingdom, about 1980 to 1760 BCE. A beautiful 95.6% gold (equivalent to 22K+) ring featuring a swiveling amethyst scarab that is incised with an ankh, symbolic of life and rejuvenation, above a nebet, the Egyptian hieroglyph for a basket, symbolic of plentiful food/resources and abundance. Together, these two hieroglyphs essentially symbolize good luck and blessed fortune throughout life. In addition to the incised hieroglyphs and details of the beetle on the obverse and sides of the scarab, the amethyst itself is inherently beautiful, boasting lovely lavender hues and marvelous translucency. The 22K+ gold shank is also elegant - generally smooth and wrapped with gold wire at either side of as well as threaded through the amethyst scarab.
