Egyptian Carnelian Wedjat Eye Amulet

New Kingdom, 1550-1070 BC. A skillfully carved red carnelian wedjat eye amulet with ribbed suspension loop, almond-shaped eye with raised detailing, hatched eyebrow and striated teardrop. Cf. Flinders Petrie, W.M., Amulets, London, 1994, pl.XXV, fig.138w. 0.96 grams, 14.23mm (1/2"). Property of a gentleman; acquired from the collection of a West London businessman, from a collection formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; formerly in a 1970s private collection.
