Egyptian Glass Faience Bead Necklaces + Earrings

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. mid-16th century BCE to 2nd century CE; Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenicia, ca. 6th BCE to 1st century CE. A collection of ancient beads that are strung on modern sterling silver chains and findings as wearable jewelry, including 2 necklaces and a matched pair of earrings. The first necklace has a modern sterling silver chain, push clasp, and curved pin finding containing 11 ancient carnelian glass and faience beads and a large faience pendant with two integral suspension rings and a rich blue and black glaze that once highlighted the ancient symbol. The other necklace is a similar construction strung with 8 glass carnelian beads and a central green faience amulet bead of a recumbent lion. The earrings are two spherical dark blue and white stripped glass beads flanked by semi translucent white glass, all strung on a modern sterling silver findings and chain with ear hooks. Condition Report: All beads and pendants are ancient, and all sterling silver components are modern. Minor nicks and chips to beads as expected with age. Lion faience bead details are soft and have light mineral deposits in recessed areas and stable fissures on verso. Loss to glaze on the other faience pendant. All pieces are wearable and strung in modern times!
