Egyptian Glazed Faience Ushabti - Blue Hue

**First Time At Auction**

Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A lovely mold-formed faience ushabti, standing in mummiform with fused legs and feet, holding a small pick or hoe in one hand, and grasping the strap of a seed bag in the other. Bulging ovoid eyes, a slender nose, full lips, puffy cheeks, cupped ears, and a false beard comprise the serene visage, and topping the head is a simple tripartite wig. Enveloping the shabti is lustrous glaze in a stunning cornflower-blue hue. An attractive example of Egyptian funerary statuary! Size: 1.5" W x 4.25" H (3.8 cm x 10.8 cm); 4.8" H (12.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition Report: Losses to areas of legs, feet, and verso as shown. Softening to some finer details, light encrustations, with some pitting across body and head, and fading to original glaze pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout, and great craquelure to remaining glaze.
