[ translate ]

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A lovely example of a mold-formed faience ushabti covered in lustrous layers of sky-blue glaze. The figure stands in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth and dorsal pillar, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in hands crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag incised behind the left shoulder. The finely detailed face presents with a triangular nose, almond-shaped eyes with elongated corners, full lips, and a false beard, all framed by the lappets of the tripartite wig. An inscribed column of hieroglyphic text is shown in front of the legs that likely identify the name of the deceased with which this figure was buried. Size: 1.2" W x 4.125" H (3 cm x 10.5 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.
