Egyptian Gold Cat Amulet

Ptolemaic Period, 332-30 BC. A gold amuletic figure of a cat on a tongue-shaped base with loop to the back. Cf. Andrews, C. Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, p. 33; see the Baron Empain collection, Christies, 14 April 2011, for similar. 2.36 grams, 11mm (3/4"). From the property of a London gentleman; previously in a private Belgian collection; formerly on the French art market 1920s.
