Egyptian Leaded Bronze Osiris Figurine

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A cast-leaded-bronze figure of Osiris, the god of the underworld, standing atop an integral rectangular plinth. His peaceful countenance is defined by ovoid eyes with elongated corners, a broad nose, and a plaited false beard. His Atef crown bears a pair of broad ostrich feathers and a frontal uraeus cobra with a pair of ram horns at its base identifying him as a king. The god of the afterlife & resurrection stands in mummiform with fused legs while holding his signature flagellum and short-handled heka scepter in his hands. Size: 1" W x 3.75" H (2.5 cm x 9.5 cm)

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection; ex-Phillip Mitry collection, noted dealer in Cairo, Egypt until about 1951 when he emigrated to the United States

Condition Report: Thick patina in hues of green, brown, and russet have formed across the figure. Minor nicks to base, body, and head, with softening to some finer details, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Missing sun disk atop of crown as shown.
