Egyptian Light Turquoise Glazed Shabti for Ta - Menech, c. 340-300 B.C.
Of pale blue glazed faience, wearing a tripartite wig and plaited divine beard. The face is well defined, the arms crossed, the hands protruding from a shroud to hold a pick and a hoe, the right hand also holding a rope connected to a seed sack behind the left shoulder. Incised hieroglyphic text below the waist to its female owner: “The Illuminated, the Osiris, Priest of (?), Ta-Menech (ref: Ranke 1 p357, no 11 tA-mnx), born to Ta-Hor-Sw.
