Egyptian Limestone Painted Shabti

Ramesside Period, 19th-20th Dynasty, 1295-1077 BC. A carved limestone shabti with painted detailing to the eyes and costume, agricultural tools and headdress; the costume with horizontal bands in light tan and red; incised bands of hieroglyphic text in horizontal and vertical orientation, including the name of the owner (a scribe called 'Ir-nu') and a standard form of quotation from the Book of the Dead chapter 6: vertical column 'Instructions of the Osiris'; horizontal rows: 'Ir-nu, justified; he says: O these shabti / if I am counted, if I am reckoned to do work / [which is done in] the necropolis in order to cultivate the river-banks (or riparian lands) [in order to] convey 'sand' / of the west [to the east?]; if I am summoned at any time / I will do it, thus I say!'; mounted on a custom-made display stand.
