Egyptian Royal Scarab with Cartouche of Tuthmosis III

18th Dynasty, 1550-1292 BC. A white glazed steatite scarab with detailing to the carapace, base with 'Men-Kheper-Ra' in cartouche, the king in the posture of adoration, lion above. Cf. Petrie, W.M.F., Amulets, London, 1914, pl.xviii, no.71. 0.52 grams, 11mm (1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the 1970s; accompanied by an old notes page with various information on the item. Thutmose III ruled Egypt for nearly 54 years, from 28th April 1479 BC to 11th March 1425 BC. He was the 6th pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. [No Reserve]
