Egyptian Scarab in Silver Ring

Late Period, 664-332 BC. A white composition scarab with carapace to the upper face and two quadrupeds climbing a tree beneath, set into a later silver U-shaped swivel ring, with round-section hoop tapering towards the terminals which end in 'discs' with flat inner and domed outer faces, silver coiled wire to the shoulders. See Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, for comparable examples. 13.21 grams, 36.14mm overall, 19.50 x 19.19mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q1/2 , USA 8 1/4, Europe 18.12, Japan 17) (1 1/2"). Property of a London lady, part of her family's collection; acquired in the 1970s.
