A carved serpentine two-part cosmetic box representing bolti fish, internally recessed; pierced through mouth for suspension and partially through the tail for a sliding hinge. 40.8 grams total, 71mm each (2 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; previously in a Canadian private collection prior to 1985; accompanied by a scholarly note TL 5310 by Dr Ronald Bonewitz. [2]
