A carved wooden figurine of a porter or workman in advancing pose, carrying two drum-shaped baskets; pegs to the feet for insertion into the rectangular base; much original pigment. 759 grams total, 34cm with stand (13 1/2"). From the private collection of John Lawton collection, Surrey, UK; formerly in the Cmdr Peter Gray (Egyptologist) collection; accompanied by a copy of the collector's notes under reference number EG12. The figure represents one of the members of the teams of artisans and workmen which were placed in the tombs of the nobility.
