Egyptian sandstone relief fragment with pigment
An Egyptian sandstone relief fragment, Late Period - Ptolemaic, c. 664 - 30 BC, depicting a seated man wearing a broad collar and short kilt, lotus flower before his face. Part of a much larger scene, a hieroglyphic sign in the form of a bird and part of another are preserved. The entire piece is extremely well-preserved and retains much of the original pigment. 5 x 4 3/4 in(12.7 x 12 cm). Ex Massachusetts private collection acquired in the 1960's-70's.
