Elastolin/Lineol Alpine Landhaus Wachenfeld Headquarters & Sentry Diorama
A large Elastolin/Lineol Alpine chalet diorama is modeled after the historic Landhaus Wachenfeld mountain headquarters and measures approximately 21.25" W x 13.5" D x 10.5" H. The multi-tier wood-and-composition structure features a stone-textured first floor with opening double courtyard garage doors, a log-style wooden upper story with shuttered windows, a stone-weighted timber roof, a surrounding courtyard security wall, and twin freestanding flagpole mounts rigged with vertical cloth swastika banners. The architectural compound is accompanied by a matching wooden sentry box painted in red-black-white diagonal guard stripes and housing a Lineol composition guard figure standing at attention. Also included is a separate freestanding courtyard flagpole rigged with a fabric Reichskriegsflagge; the pole mount is detached. A miniature wood-and-metal souvenir savings bank measuring approximately 5.25" W x 3" D x 3" H is crafted in the form of an Alpine villa and bears an underside stamp for the "Militar-Verein Liegau" military association; the key is missing. The lot further includes a small framed miniature color print of the mountain retreat, five vintage real-photo and color postcards published by Heinrich Hoffmann showing panoramic views of Landhaus Wachenfeld and the surrounding Alpine peaks, and a specialized promotional postcard depicting a miniature architectural model of the chalet layout with descriptive text. Several postcards retain period handwritten correspondence, postal cancellation stamps, and official collector markings on their reverses. A small glass-fronted miniature painting or print of the estate set within a decorative patterned brass frame with a folding rear easel stand is also included.
