Elbaite Crystals on matrix - 5.5×3.5×3 cm - 50 g

San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - A super elbaite var rubellite from the type locality. This specimen hosts a terminated elbaite variety rubellite of 1. 4 cm in size. The crystal is pristine, undamaged and is accompanied by several other rubellite crystals at it base. The main crystal stands on crystalline albite and cleavelandite matrix. This elbaites are quite rare to find and this specimen is from an old collection. Looking at the matrix, the specimen has been found probably close to the Prado area, just below the San Piero cemetry.
