Elbaite Pala Chief Mine, Chief Mountain, Pala, Pala District, San Diego Co., California, USA "A large single crystal measuring about 2.5 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide. Bought from Sol Shalevitz when he sold his collection. He was the father of Lee Shale who had a rock shop/Jewelry Store for years over on Pico Blvd. in Los Angeles when he was married to his first wife, a German girl who his father Saul called "That German bitch". Sol was a diamond dealer for years down in the jewelry district in Los Angeles. He had a fine mineral collection and I got a number of things from him when he sold it." - Rock H. Currier Rock was fond of specimens with a bit of history behind them and he wasn't shy about relating the 'colorful' stories that went with them.
