Elbaite (Tourmaline) Goma, North Kivu, DR Congo 6.1 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm (2.40 x 1.38 x 1.10 in) A spectacular specimen that embodies the phrase "double feature!" In near parallel orientation are two nicely formed, intergrown, striated Elbaite crystals, both of which are complete all around with beautifully formed double-terminations. Darker green cores fill much of the specimen's lower, pyramidal terminations, abruptly shifting to a vibrant, translucent pink column highlighted by a yellow-green frame. This already snazzy specimen is made even more attractive with a strong glass-like sheen on each of the prismatic and terminated faces. From the collection of John Warn [DRC24114f].
