Elbaite (Tourmaline) Malkhan pegmatite field, Krasnyi Chikoy, Krasnochikoysky District, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia 4.0 x 3.0 x 2.6 cm (1.57 x 1.18 x 1.02 in) A stunning Tourmaline specimen originating from the Malkhan Pegmatite, noted as being found in an area that lies halfway between Lake Baikal and Chita, Russia. The crystal weighs 48.6 grams and has an intense wine-red color that darkens the beveled, trigonal termination at the specimen's peak. A large portion of the Tourmaline is translucent to transparent, erupting with color when viewed with any amount of backlighting. Striations detail the side faces and strongly glisten from every angle. Scattered across the termination and one of the prismatic faces are smaller, brilliant white associations of Albite.
