Elbaite (Tourmaline) Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan, Afghanistan 5.3 x 3.4 x 2.2 cm (2.09 x 1.34 x 0.87 in) ...
Elbaite (Tourmaline) Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan, Afghanistan 5.3 x 3.4 x 2.2 cm (2.09 x 1.34 x 0.87 in) This transparent Elbaite crystal weighs 76.1 grams and displays exceptional clarity beneath a flashy exterior. Most of the crystal is filled with an icy blue to mint-green color that abruptly shifts near the top into thin bands of mint green and soft pink, creating an elegant bi-color effect. The crystal rises to a sharp, flattened termination with subtle beveling along the edges and vertices. A wintery coating of white microcrystalline druse covers nearly the entire termination, providing a subtle textural contrast to the crystal's otherwise glassy surfaces.
