Elbaite (Tourmaline) Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan, Afghanistan 5.7 x 5.3 x 4.4 cm (2.24 x 2.09 x 1.73 in) An impressive 200.1-gram Elbaite crystal that is complete with a robust, well-terminated prismatic shape and is accentuated by pronounced parallel growth across every side. The side faces are very transparent with bright vitreous luster and thin striations. Well-formed, lightly frosted terminations crown the termination, contrasting with the otherwise glassy surfaces. Color grades from a deep green base into a vivid blue body that becomes especially intense with backlighting, revealing the remarkable clarity and saturation of the crystal.
